The Centennial Parade Planning Committee has extended to April 15 the deadline for applying to walk in the Centennial Parade on May 11, and for nominating others whom they deem worthy of the honor.
Five hundred citizens will participate in the parade: 50 from each of the city’s eight wards, and 100 “honored citizens” who have made a significant, positive impact on Winston-Salem, such as veterans, community leaders and local heroes. Participants will be walking the 1.5 mile, paved route. The route is wheelchair accessible.
Citizens may apply to represent their ward. No more than 10 people from any given group or organization will be selected. An entrant’s ward will be determined by the address on the walking entry application. “Honored citizens” must be nominated by others.
All participants in the Centennial Celebration Parade will receive a certificate of participation signed by Mayor Allen Joines.
Complete rules, information and entry forms are available online.
