Mayor Allen Joines met with a group of ministers and other interested members of the community on Monday regarding the Silk Plant Forest Report and Investigation. He brought them up to date on the status of full release of the report and discussed the next steps the city plans to take.
Mayor Joines confirmed that the city attorney is moving forward with the process to file a petition and motion in Forsyth County Superior Court that will allow the city to release all documents relating to the Silk Plant Forest Citizens Review Committee report.
"It is the city’s intention to file the motion no later than October 16, so that the full report can be released as soon as possible," Joines said. "I believe it is important that all aspects of this report be released so that the public can be assured that all the information gained during this study has been made available to the defense, the prosecution and any others interested in this case."
A redacted version of the final report of the Silk Plant Forest Citizens Review Committee was released July 24 and is posted online on Police Department web site.
