Mayor Allen Joines congratulates Winston-Salem residents Kim and Maggie Sharpe and the KMS Gospel Singers on being selected to perform at the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 18.
Each year, volunteer bands, choirs and dancers perform nightly in December on the Ellipse Stage in President’s Park (next to the White House) as part of the National Christmas Tree Music Program. The KMS Gospel Singers will perform original gospel music as well as traditional Christmas songs from 6 to 6 30 p.m. Admission is free.
The Winston-Salem Arts Council is providing financial support to help the KMS Gospel Singers cover the cost of traveling to Washington, D.C. The group receives in-kind support from Middlefork Christian Church, which provides rehearsal space.
