MWBE Certification

Due to the Statewide Uniform Certification Program (SWUC), the City of Winston-Salem no longer certifies businesses as minority or women-owned through its M/WBE Program office.

All businesses seeking certification are directed to the NC Department of Administration's Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB) Program. The city accepts this certification for participation on M/WBE projects.  Please follow the instructions there for certification. The Certification process is begun online by first registering your firm with NC Vendor Link.

To qualify as an M/WBE business, 51% or more of the company must be owned and controlled by a member of a minority group. For purposes of this definition, minority groups are Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, Pacific Rim Asian Americans, American Indians, and Women.
