Plan Adopted by City Council, Forsyth County Public Hearing this Spring
A draft of the North Suburban Area Plan Update [pdf/14.9mb/68p] is currently available. The Winston-Salem City Council adopted the plan on April 7, 2014. The City-County Planning Board recommended approval of the plan at a public hearing on March 13, 2014. The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the plan later in the spring.
The plan was originally adopted by the Winston-Salem City Council, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, and the City-County Planning Board in 2005. This update will take into consideration the changes that have occurred since then and guide future land use and public investment decisions including recommendations for transportation, community facilities, housing and community development, design and appearance, historic preservation, and economic development.
Plan Area Boundaries
The North Suburban Plan Area [pdf/600kb/1p] encompasses 14,619 acres (22.9 square miles) and includes portions of Winston-Salem, Bethania, and unincorporated areas under Forsyth County’s zoning and planning jurisdiction.
