Next Meeting - January 16, 2013, Polo Park Community Center
An update of the North Suburban Area Plan [pdf/4mb/72p] is currently underway. The next meeting will be held Thursday, January 16, 2013, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Polo Park Community Center, 1850 Polo Road, Winston-Salem. Planning staff will present the a draft of land use recommendations [pdf/4.2mb/1p] based on public input at the plan's kickoff meeting [pdf/65kb/3p] as well as a meeting in December. An existing conditions report [pdf/6.5mb/33p], which summarizes some of the changes in the area over the last eight years, is also available.
The plan was originally adopted by the Winston-Salem City Council, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, and the City-County Planning Board in 2005. This update will take into consideration the changes that have occurred since then and guide future land use and public investment decisions including recommendations for transportation, community facilities, housing and community development, design and appearance, historic preservation, and economic development.
