Plan Status - IN PROGRESS

Southeast Suburban Area Plan Draft CoverNext Southeast Suburban Area Plan Meeting - October 15, 2015

The City-County Planning Board staff is currently working on an update of the adopted 2009 Southeast Suburban Area Plan. The Southeast Suburban Area Plan Update kickoff meeting was held on September 22, 2015, at Sedge Garden Park Recreation Center. The meeting was attended by citizens within the planning area who shared their thoughts, concerns, and suggestions [pdf/206kb/2p] on the future of the area. Using the feedback provided at the kickoff meeting, City-County Planning Board staff will create recommendations for the proposed land use for the area, which will help guide future land use and public/private investment decisions. Staff will discuss these recommendations and seek citizen feedback on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Sedge Garden Recreation Center from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Everyone is invited and welcome to attend.

Since 2009, the Southeast Suburban Planning Area has continued to grow. Commercial and residential development, road improvements and construction, demographic shifts and employment opportunities all shape the way we live, work and play in our communities. To better plan for the future, we must update our area plans periodically to ensure they reflect the goals of citizens and the recommendations of Legacy 2030, Forsyth County’s comprehensive plan. The planning process will include a review of the Existing Conditions Report [pdf/5.88mb/27p], followed by three additional meetings for local citizens to share their ideas regarding the area’s future. When completed, the updated Southeast Suburban Area Plan will include recommendations on topics such as land use, transportation, community facilities, historic and environmental preservation, economic development and rural character.

The staff recommendations will be presented at the next meeting.
