Southeast Suburban Area Plan Update - Draft

The City-County Planning Board staff is currently working on an update of the adopted 2009 Southeast Suburban Area Plan. At the Southeast Suburban Area Plan Update kickoff meeting (held on September 22, 2015, at Sedge Garden Park Recreation Center), citizens shared their thoughts, concerns, and suggestions [pdf/206kb/2p] on the future of the area. Using the community’s feedback, staff presented proposed land use recommendations for the area on October 15, 2015. These recommendations were discussed again at the November 17 meeting, where staff also discussed transportation, historic preservation, and community facilities recommendations [pdf/2.3mb/30p]. On Tuesday, December 8, 2015, a final opportunity was provided for citizens to review the complete draft of the Southeast Suburban Area Plan Update [pdf/8.06mb/56p]. At this drop-in session staff members were present to answer any final questions about the plan prior to it going to the elected bodies for approval.

The City-County Planning Board will review the draft of the area plan update on Thursday, February 11, 2016. This meeting will be held at 4:30 on the fifth floor of the Bryce A. Stuart Building located at 100 E. First Street, Winston-Salem. This will be a public hearing and all interested citizens are encouraged to attend.
