The deadline for Historic Marker Program Applications is the last Friday of October each year. Winston-Salem’s Historic Marker Program has been in place since 2001. The historic marker program has gained significant popularity since its introduction, drawing attention to important local sites that may not have received recognition otherwise. Residents of our community can find pride in sites of well-known local history and discover long-forgotten stories from the community’s past.
We encourage you to complete an application if there is a site that you believe would be a good candidate. The Application Form is accessible online below or can be picked up at the City-County Planning Board, Second Floor, Bryce A. Stuart Municipal Building, 100 East First Street, Winston-Salem, NC, 27101.
