Merit Badge Workshop Form

The Winston-Salem Police Department has partnered for a fourth year to offer select merit badges to local boy scouts in the Piedmont District of the Old Hickory Council. The merit badges being offered are; Crime Prevention, Safety, Traffic Safety, and Fingerprinting. Each session will start promptly at 5:45 p.m. on its scheduled date and will last for about two hours. This time depends on the number of participants and the number of questions asked during the session. Each scout participanting in the merit badge workshop will only complete part of the merit badge. For the remaining incomplete requirements, it is our goal to provide them with the information needed to complete those requirements. Scouts will have a short break session about half way through the workshop. During this time scouts will have access to vending machines for drinks and snacks.

Any scout participating in a merit badge workshop will need to bring the following to their scheduled session. 

  • Writing instruments
  • Paper to take notes
  • Merit Badge Manual
  • Merit Badge Workbook
  • Be familiar with the merit badge requirements

Please use the form below to register your scout for participation in one of our merit badge sessions.  Please take note of the following:

  1. There must be  a minimum of 7 scouts and a maximum of 30 scouts to hold a workshop.  Anyone registered after the class limit has been reached will be placed on a waiting list.
  2. All workshops begin at 5:45 p.m. and will last for about two hours.
  3. An adult leader is required to remain with the scouts.
  4. Scouts are required to have a copy of the merit badge manual for the class they are taking.
  5. Workshops will be held at the Alexander R. Beaty Public Safety Training and Support Center (1200 N. Patterson Ave.) or the Public Safety Center (725 N. Cherry St.)
