Some downtown streets will be closed Saturday and Sunday for the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic bike races. The races will also affect buses using the Clark Campbell Transportation Center on Saturday.
For the races on Saturday, the following streets will be closed by 4:30 p.m. and reopen at 10 p.m.: Cherry Street, between Second and Seventh streets; Seventh Street between Marshall and Main streets; Liberty Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Fourth Street; Trade Street between MLK and Fourth Street; Fifth and Sixth streets between Main and Marshall streets; and Fourth Street between Liberty and Marshall streets. Portions of Third Street and Town Run Lane will also be closed.
Buses will not be able to use the Clark Campbell Transportation Center during the Saturday races. Buses will stop on Liberty Street between Fifth and Fourth streets to load and unload passengers between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Sunday’s races will be held on a road course bounded on the north by Pilot View and by Sixth streets, on the east by Church Street, Salem Avenue and South Main Street; on the south by Acadia Street, and on the west by Broad Street, Marshall Street, Brookstown Avenue and Northwest Boulevard. The race course Sunday will be closed to cars and trucks, however, traffic will be allowed to cross the route under the direction of police officers at each intersection.
