The Winston-Salem Police Department is providing information regarding its application for funding under the FY 2014 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funding. This message constitutes public notice of the application.
The Winston-Salem Police Department is in the process of applying to the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Program's Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) for grant funding under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program: FY 2014 Local Solicitation. This application is being completed on behalf of both the City of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County to share an allocation of $176,683 in disparate funding. The Police Department intends to use its portion of funding to purchase replacement tasers for its sworn officers and a reconnaissance robot for use by its SWAT team in high threat environments. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is proposing to use its portion to purchase body-mounted cameras for its street deputies.
