Assistant Chief Bryan S Blakley

Assistant Chief Bryan S. Blakley is a 27-year veteran of the Winston-Salem Police Department.

Assistant Chief Blakley is a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, NC. He graduated from the Winston-Salem Police Department Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) in 1986. In 1990, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Police Officer, in 1999 to the rank of Sergeant, in 2004 to the rank of Lieutenant, in 2008 to the rank of Captain, and in 2013 to the rank of Assistant Chief.

He has served in numerous capacities during his tenure including the following assignments: Foot Patrol, SWAT, Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Sergeant/School Director, Field Commander for Patrol District One, Professional Standards Commander and District Commander for Field Services Bureau.

Assistant Chief Blakley earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Appalachian State University.  He holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the Criminal Justice Education Training and Standards Commission. Assistant Chief Blakley is a recent graduate of the 252nd Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Assistant Chief Blakley is a certified instructor in both Physical Fitness and Subject Control Techniques. He teaches in the Winston-Salem Police Department's BLET Program and Forsyth Technical Community College.

Assistant Chief Blakley serves on several boards and committees in the community. He is a member of Old Town Baptist Church.
