Office of the Mayor - Dec. 9, 2013

NOTE: The Monday, December 16, concert is canceled. Please join us on Tuesday, December 17, for the Carver High School Chorus.

Mayor Allen Joines has invited choruses from local schools to participate in his fourth annual City Hall Holiday Music Series, to be held each day at noon Dec. 13 and Dec. 16-19.

Choruses from Salem College, North Forsyth, Carver, Glenn and Reagan high schools will perform Dec. 13, 16, 17, 18 and 19 respectively, in the lobby of City Hall, 101 N. Main Street.

Joines said he is happy that the series has become an annual event. “I think this music series is a great way to provide holiday entertainment by our students for city employees, people who live or work downtown, and for our senior citizens.”

Joines will attend the performance on Dec.13 with his special guests, the Fifth Grade class at Petree Elementary School that worked on “The Garden of Healthy Living”, the Mayor’s Childhood Obesity Prevention project. Superintendent Beverly Emory of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools will attend on Thursday, Dec. 19 to close the series.

The choruses will perform traditional holiday songs and contemporary a cappella pieces. All performances are free and open to the public. Local senior citizens’ groups are scheduled to attend each day Dec 16-19.
