The path of a musician is often unpredictable. One wouldn’t imagine that six generations of mastery of the Japanese shakuhachi would lead to a career in Celtic music, however that is exactly how it played out for accomplished flute player and traditional singer Hanz Araki. The son of Irish and Japanese parents guaranteed a household with a broad spectrum of musical influences. Visit the website at

Joseph is multi-instrumentalist playing various flutes, whistles, guitars, is best known for his percussive styled guitar.

Crann Ull - Rob Sharer on guitar, fiddle, flute and vocals. Margaret Rush on guitar and vocals. Drawing from both traditional and contemporary sources as well as penning much of their own material, Craicdown's repertoire includes both songs and instrumental pieces ranging in style from Americana to reggae-sounding vocals, from Celtic influenced jigs and reels to the music of Brazil and Argentina.Visit their website at

Matthew and Aaron Olwell - Brothers from southern Virginia featuring vocals, flute, bodhran, fiddle, concertina, and dance.

“Matthew provides perhaps the most striking contribution to the band’s sound with his mesmerizing percussion, which he provides with the cajon and bodhran (drums from Cuba and Ireland, respectively), hamboning, clogging, flatfooting and dancing.”

-Dave Higgs, Bluegrass Now

Aaron Olwell is a multi-instrumentalist (flute, whistle, left-handed fiddle, concertina, banjo...) and the son of world-renowned Irish flute-maker Patrick Olwell.
