The basketball courts at Little Creek and Easton parks in Winston-Salem are getting a facelift, courtesy of the Sprite Spark Parks competition that brought the city $13,000 to pay for the improvements.
At both parks, cracks and seams in the outdoor courts will be filled and sealed, after which the courts will be painted, said William Royston, the city’s park superintendent.
Money for the facelift came through the Coca Cola Company’s Sprite Spark Parks promotion and Lowes Foods, its North Carolina partner. During the promotion, held from May 21 through June 16, consumers could vote online for their favorite local public park from a list of 12 parks in Hickory, Wake Forest, Charlotte, Greensboro and Winston-Salem. Little Creek Park received the most votes, bringing a $10,000 grant; Easton Park received a $3,000 grant for second place.
