Salem Lake will reopen for all fishing and boating activities on Friday, Dec. 7.
For a limited time, citizens may fish free of charge on the renovated pier or use the new boat ramp and docks to launch their boat, canoe, sail boat or kayak at no charge, said Tim Grant, the director of recreation and parks. “This free offer is for a limited time,” Grant said, “so I encourage our citizens to hurry over to Salem Lake and take advantage of the great weather we are experiencing.”
All state and city policies on fishing and boating remain the same.
Salem Lake is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The lake was closed in November 2010 to replace the Salem Lake Dam. During construction the water level in the lake was lowered 12 feet.
