About Salem Lake

Salem Lake has been called the hidden diamond in the city of Winston-Salem. Located minutes away from downtown Winston-Salem, Salem Lake offers a 365-acre lake with a 7-mile trail that offers a scenic view of the lake at all times.

The lake offers pier and boat fishing for hybrid bass, large mouth bass, catfish, crappie, bream, carp and white perch. Anyone 16 or older must have a North Carolina State Fishing License to fish at Salem Lake or Winston Lake.

A man who caught a 38-pound catfish at Salem Lake was featured on WFMY in September 2017. Read his story.
