WSSU Therapeutic Recreation Students work hard to prepare the garden at Miller Park for the Spring

Recently the City Church of Winston-Salem provided wood, supplies and resources while the ladies from the WSSU Therapeutic Recreation Department came together with staffs at the Miller Park Recreation Center to wake up the hidden garden at Miller Park. The garden has and will allow children to learn about gardening while at summer camps and other programs. Below is the "after photo. THANK YOU all who played a part in making this happen.

Fundraising Opportunity

• Saturday, May 3, 2014 – Yard Sale for Special Olympics – Miller Park Recreation Center. If you would like to reserve a space, you can do so for $10. IF you would like to donate items to Special Olympics for them to sell, we will be taking donations the week of April 28, 2014 at Miller Park Recreation Center. • Sunday, May 4, 2014 – Quarter Auction - Come out and join us for a fun filled time! We will show you amazing products that you can get for just quarters! That’s right I said quarters. You’ll be helping a very worthy cause as well. The paddles are $4 each and for info on the quarter auction contact Maria. Other Opportunities

  • Friday Socialites on Thursday!!!!  Friday Socialites will be helping with the Miller Park Egg Hunt on Thursday, April 17, 2014.  Socialites should arrive at Miller Park at 3:00 p.m. and should be picked up by 6:00 p.m.  Socialites will be helping to stuff eggs, hide eggs, and keep the children from going out of bounds.  If you would like to participate in this event, please contact Danielle Dobbs-Jackson at 727-2426 or Danielled@cityofws.org.
  • Twin City Youth Soccer is offering the TOPSoccer program to Forsyth County. US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, who has a mental or physical disability.   • Southwest Forsyth Little League Challenger Baseball League – Click here for details

  • CAMP DISCOVERY is fun camp for individuals with intellectual disabilities between 8 – 21 year old during summer. Camp will run eight weeks, June 23 – August 15, with structured activities from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and 8:00 a.m. early drop off and 5:30 p.m. late pick-up, for $50 per week. Please see the camp brochure below (print front-to-back to create a tri-fold) for more information! **There is a $20/week non-refundable deposit required upon registration**
  • CAMP LITTLE CREEK is a half day camp, June 23 – August 15, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for children 4 - 7 years old offered at Little Creek Recreation Center for $25/week. Campers will engage in fun activities based on a weekly theme. Please see the registration form below (print front to back) for more information! **Camp must be paid in full plus $10 fee upon registration**
