The city Sanitation Division will be relaxing the requirements for brush clean-up over the next two weeks to assist property owners cleaning up trees felled by yesterday’s windstorm.
Brush crews will collect all brush left at the curb regardless of its length or diameter. Normally, brush must be cut into six-foot lengths and must be no more than 6 inches in diameter.
City Vegetation Management crews are working to clear streets of downed trees and limbs. Given the number of downed trees, crews are concentrating on opening streets; they will begin clean-up next week.
Crews worked throughout the night under difficult and dangerous conditions to respond to more than 100 calls for downed trees. As of 7 a.m. there were still 30 calls pending, but officials expected that they would receive more calls today.
