On November 7th, the wonderful volunteers at Douglas Battery Company completed an Adopt A Stream Record - they have completed their 10th clean up in five years. The group generally consists of 5 - 8 volunteers, which always includes company president Charles Douglas and his son Thomas. Since beginning in the spring of 2005, the group has removed over 3,600 pounds of litter and bulky items from the unnamed tributary that runs along Starlight Drive. In addition to the usual litter and debris, during their clean ups they have retrieved automotive parts, a partial toilet, a tool box, assorted pipes, a cooler, radio, parts of a refrigerator and 49 tires.
Congratulations to Douglas Battery Company - their employee volunteers have done an outstanding job on behalf of the Adopt A Stream program and we are grateful!
