Dear Stormwater customer:
On April 16 and June 18, 2007, the City Council approved amendments to the City Code which regulates Stormwater billing and collection. The following information explains the billing changes which began on July 1, 2007. In summary, the amendment changes are as follows:
Stormwater bills are due within 28 days of the bill issue date in order to avoid a 10% late penalty.
Stormwater bills may be combined on a water/sewer utility bill.
The property owner is ultimately responsible for payment of the stormwater bill if a tenant fails to pay.
Water/sewer service may be terminated at the location for which stormwater fees have not been paid.
No property may receive water service if outstanding stormwater fees exist.
Incorrectly billed property may be back billed for up to 3 years.
The stormwater fee is based on the amount of impervious surface area on the property (structures, driveways, sidewalks etc.).
For Residential customers the actual fee is determined from the amount of the property’s impervious surface area according to the following rate structure.
If the impervious surface area is…
Between 1 and 2000 sq ft then the fee will be $51 annually or $8.50 bi-monthly
Between 2001 and 4000 sq ft then the fee will be $54 annually or $9.00 bi-monthly
Between 4001 and 6000 sq ft then the fee will be $81 annually or $13.50 bi-monthly
More than 6000 sq ft then the fee will be $108 annually or $18.00 bi-monthly.
Non-residential customers billed annually will now be billed monthly or bi-monthly, based on their current utility account setup. The actual amount is determined according to the amount of impervious surface area of your property at the rate of $831 per acre of impervious surface area (ISA) per year or $69.25 monthly or $138.50 bi-monthly.
