Water and Sewer Construction on Lockland Avenue (see map below)
The City/County Utility Division Water and Sewer Construction project will take place starting Monday, June 6, 2011 beginning at Lockland Avenue from Academy Street to approximately 250’ south of Ardsley Street. This is part of the Ardmore Area Water and Sewer Rehabilitation project to upgrade the aging water and sewer system in this area. The overall construction will include laying new water lines, rehabilitating the existing sewer lines along with reconnecting all of the water and sewer services, anticipating completion of work by July 1, 2012.
Water and sewer construction will take place on Monday through Friday during daytime hours. You will have complete access to your homes over the weekends; no work performed at that time. During the work periods, the road is closed to through traffic, on-street parking prohibited and access to your home may be restricted. If you need to enter or leave your home and find yourself blocked or restricted from doing so, ask the contractor to let you in or out and they will promptly do so.
To obtain further information concerning this project in your area, please attend a public meeting on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. at the Redeemer Presbyterian Church located at 1046 Miller Street in Winston-Salem. Representatives from the City of Winston-Salem, the project consultant and contractor will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Ardmore Basin 10 Project Highlights
- The Ardmore Basin 10 work area is bordered by Hawthorne Road and Watson Street to the west, Academy Street to the north, Peters Creek Parkway to the east and Hausman Street to the south.
- Approximately 475 property owners will be affected.
- The project will include rehabilitating approximately 23,900 linear feet of 6-inch and 8-inch sewer lines, replacing sewer service laterals and installing cleanouts on those laterals, replacing or rehabilitating approximately 124 manholes, replacing approximately 23,000 linear feet of water lines, replacing the water service connections and meter boxes, repairing curb and gutter, sidewalks and asphalt pavement and reseeding.
- Door hangers will be used to notify residents the week before work will begin on their block.
