Join us for Community Roots Day!
Saturday April, 12 at 9a.m. Blum Park
Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful of the Recreation Department’s Vegetation Management Division is getting geared up for their annual Community Roots Day. This day of service was started 15 years ago in order to promote awareness of the importance of trees to our environment. This year the goal is to plant at least 500 trees.
The event will be held on Saturday, April 12, 9 a.m. - noon in the Maple Street neighborhood at Blum Park near Hanes Middle School. “We are gearing up to have another great year,” said George Stilphen, Executive Director of the Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful program, “This event is a great way to show how much you care about your community! Last year over 400 trees were planted by nearly 500 volunteers.”
In order to make this happen we will need lots of volunteers to plant trees! The first 300 volunteers will receive a FREE t-shirt and a hat. Lunch as well as doughnuts in the morning will be provided. Tree seedlings will also be provided. Volunteers are asked to please bring their own shovels, if they have one. If you are interest in getting involved in Community Roots Day you are asked to contact George or Kittie at Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful at 727-8013 or georges@cityofws.org.
