theMIX summer program for teens ages 13-16 will kick off for the summer June 19 and has been expanded this year to include activities at Hanes Hosiery Recreation Center and Miller Park Recreation Center. Open houses will be held at both locations June 19 for parents and their kids to sample theMIX.
theMIX is designed to give teens a safe place to have fun with their friends on Friday nights. At Hanes Hosiery, MIXers will enjoy music, dancing, a Wii and Play Station gaming room, a snack bar, and more. Activities at Hanes Hosiery Recreation Center will be offered from 8 to 11 p.m.
At Miller Park, MIXers can participate in a 3-on-3 basketball league set up exclusively for theMIX. The basketball league will have two age divisions, for 13/14 and 15/16 year olds. MIXers will form their own teams with up to five members, to allow substitutions. Teams will compete weekly and conclude the summer with a tournament. Activities at Miller Park will be offered from 6 to 9 p.m.
This year, theMIX will run through July 31. Teens must register in advance and receive a MIX ID card to participate.
