The Human Relations Department is sponsoring its 8th annual March for Homeless Children as part of the Winston-Salem Jaycees Holiday Parade on Saturday, Dec. 4.
The march will raise awareness for the plight of homeless children. During 2009, Project Hope (a program offered by the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools that addresses the needs of homeless children and their families) served 695 homeless children, including 486 in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Representatives of Project Hope will be present to accept donations of clothing and school supplies.
Residents and community groups interested in participating in the march to show their support for homeless children should meet at 4:30 p.m. at the Center City West parking garage, 650 W. Fourth St. For more information, call City Link at 727-8000.
