Mayor Allen Joines has invited choruses from three local high schools to participate in the inaugural City Hall Holiday Music Series, to be held the week of Dec. 13.

Choruses from Parkland, Glenn, and Reagan high schools will perform Dec. 13, 15, and 17, respectively, at noon in the lobby of City Hall, 101 N. Main St.

Joines said he hopes this partnership with the school system will become an annual tradition. "I think this music series is a great way to provide holiday entertainment by our students for city employees, downtown residents and employees. Hopefully we'll be able to expand the series each year to include more of our school choruses."

The choruses will perform traditional holiday songs and contemporary a cappella pieces. All performances are free and open to the public.

Joines will greet each school. He and Superintendent Donald Martin of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools will attend Friday's performance.
