Bicyclists of all ages and abilities are invited to enjoy car-free biking around Old Salem during Cycling Sunday on Sept, 23. From 3 to 6 p.m., a 1.8-mile loop on Old Salem Road, Cemetery Street and Salem Avenue will be closed to motor vehicles.
Walkers, skateboarders, scooters, and roller-skaters are welcome, too. Helmets are required for everyone but walkers. Along the route, a Kid’s Bike Rodeo will be set up at the Winston-Salem Federal Credit Union parking lot, 711 Salem Ave.
Participants can get a map of the Cycling Sunday route when they arrive by registering at the south end of Main Street in Old Salem near the traffic circle. Parking is available at Gateway Family Practice, 390 W. Salem Ave.
Cycling Sunday is sponsored by the Winston-Salem Department of Transportation, the Forsyth County Health Department, Novant Health and the Winston-Salem Urban Area Bicycle & Pedestrian Program.
