City News

The city is looking for a tree suitable for display as the city Christmas tree in Corpening Plaza. Citizens with an evergreen tree that they want removed should contact CityLink at 311 or 727-8000 by Nov. 9. The city will cut down the tree, remove it and grind the stump for free.

Procuring the city Christmas tree locally would spare the city the cost of going up to the mountains and transporting the tree back to Winston-Salem, and save the donor the cost of having the tree removed.

The city would prefer to have a fir or spruce at least 50 feet tall. It is not looking for a white pine or Leyland cypress. The tree must be accessible to a crane. Citizens may e-mail photos of their tree to citylink@cityofws.org.
