Citizens can turn in expired, unwanted, or unused prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications, no questions asked, on Friday, Oct. 26, during Rx Return.
Medications will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the parking lot of the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 2825 University Parkway, in front of the box office. Prescription and over-the-counter drugs will be accepted. Used needles and other biohazardous materials will not be accepted. All drop-offs will be anonymous.
Rx Return is a safe way to get rid of unwanted medications, which in turn helps prevent accidental poisonings, drug abuse, and protects water quality. Flushing medications down the toilet or throwing them away creates safety and health hazards. Preventing medicines from ending up in North Carolina’s water supplies is particularly important.
Rx Return is being conducted by the Winston-Salem Police Department in partnership with Drug Free NC, the Yadkin Riverkeeper and GIFTS (Growing Initiative Focus on Talents and Services Inc.).
