A community celebration of the Winston-Salem State University Rams football team and its accomplishments for 2012 will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at the LJVM Coliseum. The Winston-Salem State “Red Sea of Sound” marching band will perform and all attendees will receive a commemorative program with space to collect player autographs.

The 2012 Rams were the runners-up for the NCAA Division II national championship with a 14 -1 record. They were the Super Region I champions and the CIAA conference champions, broke their own record for the most wins ever by a historically Black college or university, and were voted the HBCU national champions for a second straight year.
Speakers will include Mayor Allen Joines, Forsyth Commissioners Chairman Richard Linville, Northeast Ward Council Member and WSSU trustee Vivian H. Burke, members of the City Council, WSSU Chancellor Donald Reaves, Athletic Director Bill Hayes and Football Coach Connell Maynor. Light snacks will be served.
