Project We Care, a program initiated by Council Member and Mayor Pro Tempore Vivian H. Burke to recognize individuals and agencies that volunteer to serve others in need, is expanding its scope this year to honor up to seven outstanding community volunteers and their organizations.

In addition to submitting their total volunteer hours, program participants are being asked to submit a description of one project for which they are volunteering, to be submitted to a citizen committee for review. The committee will select the top seven initiatives and hold a special recognition and reception at City Hall honoring the winners and their projects.

Participants are asked to provide film/disk/video/photos of their event suitable for being shown at the reception. Help in recording events is available by contacting Christopher Mack at 734-1255 or by e-mail at chrislm@cityofws.org, at least three weeks in advance of the event. All entries must be received by June 30, 2013.

A form for recording volunteer hours and participating in Project We Care is posted online on the Community and Business Development Department web site. For more information contact Christopher Mack at 734-1255, send an e-mail to chrislm@cityofws.org, or call CityLink 311.
