The city Sanitation Division will keep in place for at least two more weeks the relaxed requirements for brush collection that it adopted after the windstorm on June 13.
During this period, brush crews will collect all brush left at the curb regardless of its length or diameter, provided that the brush collection trucks are capable of handling it. Very long, thick or heavy logs, such as tree trunks, will not be picked up if the collection grapple is not capable of hoisting it. Trash and bulky items should not be mixed with brush placed out for collection.
Normally, the city only collects brush that is cut into six-foot lengths and is no more than 6 inches in diameter. These requirements have been relaxed to assist property owners who had to clear trees felled by the windstorm. The Sanitation Division will reassess the need for relaxed collection in another two weeks.
