The city’s centennial documentary “Merger: Making the Twin City” was honored three times in the 35th annual Telly Awards.

The hour-long documentary won a silver Telly, which is the competition’s top prize, for documentary production. “Merger” was also a finalist and received bronze Telly awards for writing and use of music.

“Merger: Making the Twin City” combines interviews, re-enactments and rarely seen photographs to examine the origins of Salem and its theocratic governance; the establishment of Winston and its rise as an industrial center; early, failed efforts at consolidation; and the forces that made consolidation inevitable.

The Telly Awards were established in 1980 to recognize outstanding film and video productions and non-network television programs and commercials. Productions selected for awards are recognized as winners or as finalists.

With these awards, WSTV 13 has won 15 Telly awards since 2002.
