Payroll's primary mission is to ensure all employees are paid accurately and timely. Payroll processes salaries and wages for all City employees and for retired officers or beneficiaries through the Winston-Salem Police Officers' pension. Payroll provides administrative support for retiree benefits such as retiree death benefit, Winston-Salem Police Officers' retirement funds, and pensions.

Also, child support payments, tax and bankruptcy garnishments, benefits arrears payments, state and federal tax withholding changes, manual checks, Wage and Tax Statements (W-2s), and direct deposit changes are handled through the Payroll office.
