Community Appearance Awards

The Community Appearance Awards honor the efforts of individuals and groups who have made a positive impact on the appearance of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.

Award Judges

Awards are chosen based on project merit by either the Community Appearance Commission (CAC), Winston-Salem Section of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), or a jury panel. The jury panel is made of design and planning professionals who live and work outside of Forsyth County.

Selection Criteria

Awards are given based on the project merit, as determined by the selection criteria:

  • Contributes significantly to the improvement of community appearance
  • Exhibits a high standard of excellence in design
  • Preserves or restores desirable natural features of the site or area
  • Develops a noteworthy process of community involvement, which has brought about an improvement in the character and appearance of the community
