White Goods, Scrap Tires & Other Wastes

The Solid Waste Division recycles "white goods" (refrigerators, stoves, etc.) through contracts with private vendors. Scrap tires are also recycled through a contract with Central Carolina Tire Disposal, Inc. "White goods" and scrap tires may be dropped off at the Hanes Mill Road Landfill, located on Hanes Mill Road in Winston-Salem. White goods may be dropped off free of charge. Scrap tires from commercial generators, if accompanied by appropriate certification forms, are also accepted free of charge.

Tires

Forsyth County residents can dispose of five tires per year free of charge including larger quantities of tires that are not appropriately certified through the North Carolina scrap tire program. Disposal under other special circumstances, such as the clean-up of an illegal tire dump, must be handled on an individual basis.
