Bus Pass Match Distribution Program

Program Continuation

Thank you to all the applicants and participants of the Bus Pass Match Distribution Program for Fiscal Year 2018.

In June 2019, City Council approved the continuation of the program. The program will now include the following passes:

• 1-ride Fixed Route Pass
• 1-ride TransAid Pass
• 10-ride Fixed Route Pass
• 30-ride TransAid Pass

Background of the Program

Local non-profit organizations that provide, or are willing to provide, free Winston-Salem Transit Authority (WSTA) bus passes to their clients are invited to apply for additional free passes under the Bus Pass Matching Distribution Program. This program was authorized by City Council as part of the city's Fiscal Year 2017 to 2018 budget.

The council has allocated $90,000 for the program, which can be used for four types of passes:

• 1-ride bus passes on WSTA's fixed routes
• 1-ride Trans-Aid passes
• 10-ride bus passes on WSTA's fixed routes
• 30-ride Trans-Aid passes

For every pass that an agency buys for its clients, the city will provide a matching pass. Applications for matching passes will be approved on a rolling basis, first-come, first served. There is no limit to the number of matching passes that an organization may request. The following organizations are currently utilizing the Bus Pass Match Distribution Program:
