So what is Special Populations and how can it benefit you, your family, and community? So happy you asked!

Unit Overview

The Special Populations Unit offers specialized recreation services to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities year round. We are also home of the Piedmont Plus Senior Games and Special Olympics Forsyth County. Our outlook as professionals in this field and department is to provide greater opportunities to the community members we serve through programs, fundraisers, camps, and so much more!

The Black Phillips Smith Government Center also serves as a convenient, one-stop, user-friendly City Hall satellite for you to pay for your water bill, city mortgages, parking tickets, and yard-waste cart stickers. We also have a fully functional computer lab available for your use outside of the hours from 10 a.m. to Noon, Monday through Thursday.
