2020 Camp Discovery

Registration for the 2020 Camp Discovery Summer Program opens on April 1st, 2020. Registration forms can be found at the bottom of this page. Registration form and deposit fee can be turned in at the Black Phillips Smith Government Center or at Miller Park Recreation Center.

Camp Overview

Camp Discovery specializes in serving individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities ages 8 through 21. We are open Monday through Friday with drop off at 8:00 a.m. Camp begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. We’ve housed our camp at the lovely Miller Park Recreation Center for 14 years strong now! We structure our camp around weekly themes, such as Super Hero Week, Music Week, and Wacky Tacky Week.

Camp Discovery is a fun and safe environment but also educational. We engage in activities such as reading, writing, physical exercise, and crafting. Camp numbers are capped at 25 participants per week.

• Camp participants must be 8 years of age by the start date of camp.
• Camp participants must be potty trained. If participants are not, a One-on-One must attend camp with them. Camp Discovery does not provide assistance for One-on-Ones.

Camp Fees

City Residents are responsible to pay $50 per week; $60 per week for Non-City Residents. Registration includes a $10 per week non-refundable security deposit. The security deposit serves as securing spots for each week of camp and is included in the overall cost.

This is a first-come, first-served registration process. If the $10 per week non-refundable security deposit is not made upon registration, spots are still open to other recipients. Please make checks payable to The City of Winston-Salem.
