Events and Programs

Picture of the musical stage during a special event at BethabaraFrom April to December, Historic Bethabara Park celebrates each season with a special event rooted in its history. Traditional celebrations to look forward to every year include Opening Day in April, Natures Neighbors in June, Hands on History in July, Indigenous Peoples & Moravians in August,  Apple Festival in September,  Boo at Bethabara in October, and Christmas at Bethabara in December.

Spring

In April, join us for Opening Day by taking a peak inside the newly opened 1834 Log House, listening to Moravian music, and visiting the 18th century Gemeinhaus.  n June, join us for Natures Neighbors - Flora, Fauna, and the Moravians. Explore the natural side of Bethabara by participating in a guided nature walk, taking a hike on the new Kids in Parks Track Trail, making a sun print, and learning about various plants and animals from local organizations.

Summer

Join us for Hands on History in July. Explore Bethabara's history by speaking with skilled craftsmen practicing their trades. Learn about the foods that were available and take home a souvenir shirt dyed in indigo! Indigenous People Day in August, representatives of Cherokee Nation explaining the culture. Other groups will be representing other tribes.

Fall

Our biggest event, Apple Festival, is a celebration of all things autumn, agriculture, and apples. Shop from local craftsmen while enjoying food, drink, and sweets all celebrating the apple! Sponsored by Mast General Store! Boo at Bethabara is a fun kid-friendly event with haunted tours, hayrides, costumes, candy, and fun and games.

Holidays

Looking for holiday events for the whole family? Christmas at Bethabara will immerse you in Moravian holiday traditions by candlelight.

Because of the large number of people attending special events, we encourage participants to leave their pets at home. Please bring your pets to enjoy the park on other days.
