Winston-Salem police officers who live in Forsyth County are issued individual patrol cars that are theirs to drive to and from work and to off-duty employment.

Sworn Pay

  • Police Officer Trainee Starting Salary: $39,469
    • with A. A. S Degree: $41,442
    • with B.A./B. S Degree: $43,416
  • Sworn Officer Starting Salary: $41,442
    • with A. A. S Degree: $43,515
    • with B.A. or B. S Degree: $45,587

Non-Sworn Starting Salary

  • Crime Scene Technician: $39,018
  • Police Records Specialist: $34,080
  • Police Evidence Specialist: $34,080
  • Communications Operator: $36,466
  • Telephone Response Operator: $31,851
  • Police Processing Technician: $34,080

Additional Incentives

  • Lateral Entry: Pay depends on experience
  • Military Incentive: Police Applicants will receive an additional 5% pay increase with military experience.
  • Signing Bonuses: Applicants that are hired and successfully complete BLET will be given a one time, $1,000 bonus when they graduate.
