Special Events and Programs

From April to December, Historic Bethabara Park celebrates each season with a special event rooted in its history. Traditional celebrations to look forward to every year include Spring Festival in April, Highland Games in May, Music in the Palisades during the summer, Apple Festival and Dark in the Park in October, Founders Day in November, and Christmas events in December.

In April, join us for an opening celebration, Spring Festival, with fun and games for the whole family, including a maypole, scavenger hunt, planting activities, crafts, music, and more! In May, join us for our annual Highland Games, a celebration of the Scots-Irish settlers who traded with the Bethabara Moravians and sought protection inside the palisade fort during the Cherokee War.

From June through September, enjoy free outdoor concerts in our Music in the Palisades concert series! Along with great live music, enjoy 25 cent vanilla ice cream cones and other amazing flavors, Dino’s hot dogs, hay rides, and colonial games.

Our biggest event is the Apple Festival. The Apple Festival is a celebration of all things autumn, agriculture, and apples. Shop from local craftsmen while enjoying food, drink, and sweets all celebrating the apple!

Looking for holiday events for the whole family? Christmas at Bethabara will immerse you in Moravian holiday traditions by candlelight.

Because of the large number of people attending special events, we encourage participants to leave their pets at home. Please bring your pets to enjoy the park on other days.
