Streets and Highways Subcommittee

The Street & Highway Subcommittee (SHC) serves as an investigative and analytical resource for the Winston-Salem Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) TAC and TCC, and guides planning of the street and highway network. The SHC also oversees street and highway data; delivers needed data to localities, NCDOT, and consultants; serves as a forum for communication between the MPO, county, city, town, and village staff, and NCDOT; and ensures that plans affecting the Winston-Salem urban area are consistent.

The goals of the Street & Highway Subcommittee are:

1.  Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of both long-range planning and project planning.

2.  Develop and maintain a more complete street & highway table for use in model development, site planning, bicycle and pedestrian planning, transit planning, Legacy comprehensive plan and area planning, and the new SPOT prioritization tool.

3.  Expand street & highway data table to include collector streets.

Sidewalk and Pedestrian Subcommittee
