Our Lending Division provides financial assistance to homeowners who are in need of home repairs and also provides funding for first time homebuyers in need of down payment assistance. Our Assistance Policy will provide information about the programs available to the citizens of Winston-Salem.

Remedies housing conditions which pose an imminent threat to the integrity of the structure or to the occupant’s health and/or safety. 

Program at a glance: 

  • One repair not to exceed $15,000.00 to a major system listed below 
    • Roofing and gutters
    • Electrical
    • Plumbing and Water Heaters
    • Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
    • Structural/flooring

Turn Program

Transform Your Neighborhood with TURN, (Transforming Urban Residential Neighborhoods). It was created to address deteriorating structures and neighborhoods to improve the existing housing stock. The program offers financial assistance to low and moderate income households (owner occupied) to make necessary repairs to the property, see income qualification chart below.

If the household income exceeds 200% per household size the application is considered over income.

Program at a glance:

  • Maximum assistance up to $65,000 
  • Households (home owner) must income qualify at or below 200% AMI (see chart above)
  • Income based loan terms, interest rates between 0-4
  • Repairs are prioritized to bring the home up to the minimum housing code and address substandard exterior conditions
