The permit office has experienced significant increases in the volume of applications received during the past few months. As a result, review times and permit issuance may be delayed. Please be patient as we try to serve you during this hectic time. We understand that your permit is of utmost importance, and we are working diligently to get it out to you. Please watch for our e-mails and other updates on the Planning and Development Services website.

NOTICE: CityWorks PLL and BuildIT is being upgraded this weekend October 1-3. As a result, the system will not be available from 5:00pm on October 1, 2021 until 8:00am on October 4, 2021. Please plan accordingly!

The 2020 National Electrical Code (NEC) has been adopted and will become effective November 1. Exception- for one- and two-family dwellings will still comply with 2017 NEC.  All other electrical permits obtained after 11:59pm on October 31, 2021 must comply with the new 2020 NEC. The only exceptions are electrical permits purchased November 1, 2021 or after that are tied to a parent building permit that was secured before November 1, 2021. To repeat, in order to be able to use the 2017 NEC for wiring, except for one and two family dwellings, the electrical permit must be purchased before October 1, 2021 or the electrical permit MUST be tied to a building permit issued before midnight on October 31, 2021 – NO EXCEPTIONS!

Additional Information

BuildIT and IDT are not the same program. Having a BuildIT account is not the same as having an IDT account. These are two different accounts and require two different log ins. BuildIT is for viewing the permit, viewing inspection comments, scheduling inspections (for contractors only), and reviewing inspection comments. IDT is strictly for plan submittal and plan review. You are able to access review comments made by the reviewers and you are able to view the status of your submittal in IDT.  If revisions are necessary, revisions will need to be submitted through IDT.
