Program Description

The Positive Path Program is designed to reshape lives through Science Technology Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) exposure, hands-on training, and life skills, to enrich the future of our at-risk youth and young adults. The program uses a holistic approach to shape pro-social behavior through a strategic curriculum. Positive Path provides real-life examples of pro-social behavior in hopes Apprentices will learn and mimic behavior. Each Apprentice has access to Pathfinders, advisors who navigate through their journey.

The program offers General Education Development (GED) assistance, STEAM exposure, personal and professional development, career shadowing, networking, and field trips. Apprentices are paid the city's minimum wage and receive continued support services for up to six months after completing the program.

Requirements
To be eligible to participate in this program, applicants must be a resident of Winston-Salem between 16-24 years of age, pass a city background & drug screening, register for selective services, lift 25-pounds and meet one of the following criteria: 

  1. Justice-Involved Youth or Adult
  2. Low Income
  3. Incarcerated Guardian/Caregiver
  4. Current/Former Foster Youth
  5. Agency Referral
