Youth & Teen Initiative

Mission Statement:

To increase teen programming in “safe places” throughout the City of Winston-Salem. Participants will learn meaningful lessons, life skills and foster relationships with a variety of community members and partner organizations through physical activity, creative arts, meaningful conversation, and field trips. Goals will be achieved through the development of networks and strategies which blend prevention, intervention, and opportunities for the City’s teen population and their families.

Objectve:

ENGAGE, PARTNER, DEVELOP

  • Engage youth to provide sustainable, free programming year around 
  • To create more “safe places” for our teens in the City of Winston-Salem 
  • Partner with City and County organizations to increase education levels, activity options and recreational opportunities 
  • Increase parental and guardian Involvement 
  • Gather and use data to monitor effectiveness of programming across Winston-Salem
  • Develop quantifiable approaches to programming to inform future programming and events 
  • Engage with partnering community organizations to build capacity and resources to prevent youth violence
