Biking and Shared Mobility

The City of Winston-Salem's Transportation Department is responsible for planning of bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and works with various other City departments on design and implementation of these facilities.  By prioritizing the development of comfortable and connected pedestrian and bicycle network for all ages and abilities, whether you bike to work or school, to transit stops, to do errands, for physical fitness or just for your own enjoyment, the City of Winston-Salem is working diligently to enhance the environment for bicycling and micromobility (or shared mobility), as well as using other strategies to make Winston-Salem and surrounding areas more friendly and safe.

Micromobility or Shared Mobility options are also available in the form of e-scooters. Operation of e-scooters requires a permit.
