East / Northeast Winston-Salem Area Plan Update - Adopted 2015

The East / Northeast Winston-Salem Area Plan Update (PDF) was adopted by the Winston-Salem City Council on November 2, 2015. The City-County Planning Board recommended approval of the plan on August 13, 2015. The Plan update will guide future area land use and public investment decisions including recommendations for:

  • Community facilities
  • Design and appearance
  • Economic development
  • Historic preservation
  • Housing and community development
  • Transportation

Planning Area Boundary

The East / Northeast Planning Area (PDF) encompasses approximately 4,389 acres and is bounded:

  • On the east by Brushy Fork Creek/Branch and US 158
  • On the north by Akron Drive and the start of Lansing Drive
  • On the south by the Norfolk Southern Railway
  • On the west by US 52

The planning area is divided between the East and Northeast Wards.
