Method of Appointment

The members are appointed by the City Council upon the recommendation of the Mayor. It is composed of not less than three nor more than five physicians not eligible to participate in the plan.

Authority for Creation

The Medical Review Board was created by Section 15-56 (e) of the City Code and adopted by the City Council on March 8, 1978.

Purpose / Function

The purpose of the Board is to determine whether a police officer is disabled under the provisions of the Winston-Salem Police Officers' Retirement Plan.
