Downtown Sewer Work Through End of Year

A contractor will be inspecting and cleaning sewer lines overnight in downtown Winston-Salem starting the evening of Monday, Nov. 16. Crews will work seven days a week from 6 p.m. until approximately 5 a.m. in an effort to complete the project by the end of the year. There will be a hiatus during Thanksgiving week and occasional breaks on weekends or during unsafe weather conditions.

A closed-circuit TV camera unit will be used to inspect sewer lines. Other equipment will include a combination wash and vacuum truck that may reach noise levels as high as 90 dBA at the vehicle. Cleaning in predominantly residential areas will be scheduled during the day to minimize disruptions during normal quiet hours.

The boundary for this project is generally Martin Luther King Jr Drive on the north, N.C. Highway 52 on the east, Salem Parkway on the south and Marshall Street on the west. See map.

Lane closures will occasionally be required and traffic will be controlled by a flagger when necessary. For more information, call City Link 311 or 336-727-8000.
